The core curriculum focuses on leadership roles and accountability, team building, leadership styles and situations, social responsibility, integrity as a leader, public speaking, changing behaviors, and goal setting. General Shelton’s cornerstones of values-based leadership – honesty, integrity, compassion, diversity, and social responsibility – are the foundations of the experience. The Shelton Camp is designed to help students expand their knowledge and skills of what it takes to be an effective leader. The General Shelton Leadership Camp is a one-week summer residential experience for rising freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors in high school that takes place on the campus of Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C. Campers are selected on a first-come, first-served basis with only 30 campers being accepted. Each camper will receive a STEM Camp t-shirt and daily snacks will be provided along with an end-of-camp pizza party. The specific camp areas within STEM will include Microbiology, Forensic science, Health sciences, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Nursing, Environmental Science, and Engineering as well as others. The STEM Camp is a half-day camp for rising 6th-8th grade students where campers participate in fun hands-on learning activities related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
